Kim Bradford-Watts

I have been living and teaching in Japan since December, 1987, in which time I have taught all ages and levels in language schools, junior and senior high schools, companies, university and colleges, as well as privately. I am now a senior lecturer at Kyoto Women's University.

In April, 2000, I was awarded a MA (App Ling) from Macquarie University in Australia, and am currently undertaking a M.Ed.Studs. course by distance through the University of Newcastle, Australia.

Beginning December, 2001, I have been fortunate in working in various capacities on The Language Teacher, the monthly peer-reviewed journal issued by the Japan Association for Language Teaching (Zenkoku Gogaku Kyoiku Gakkai). I have served as editorial advisory board member, proofreader, column editor, and associate editor on this publication. From January 2004 to November 2006, I held the position of co-editor of The Language Teacher. I am now JALT Publications Board Chair and editor of the JALT 2006 Conference Proceedings.

I also serve as an editorial advisory board member for NEXUS and ETJ-Journal, and have co-edited several conference proceedings, including JALT 2002, JALT 2003, JALT 2004, and JALT 2005, and Peace as a Global Language, 2003. Additionally, I served as member of the reading committee for submissions to JALT 2004.

I enjoy researching and writing. Further details of my publications are available on this site. In 2005, I wrote the text and teacher's manual, Talking about the Australian Mosaic with Jacoba Akazawa. It was released in time for the 2005 academic year. In 2006, Academic writing and presentations: Experiences to celebrate and remember was released. And UK Focus, also co-written with Jacoba, has been released in time for the 2007 academic year. Please take a look at these titles and see if they are appropriate for your teaching situation.
